ELA Teacher
Platte City Middle School

Born and raised in southern New Jersey outside of Philadelphia but most recently hailing from the Northern Virginia/D.C. area, I am thrilled to have made the move to Kansas City. this summer. Since 2001, I have had the delight and privilege of teaching a variety of English, Language Arts, literature, and writing courses to students in grades 6-10, as well as growing and directing a school's Writing Center. After all this time, my fervor for teaching English to secondary students is still going strong! In addition to my time in the English classroom, I have had the wonderful experience of also providing executive functioning coaching to both middle and high school students, which has quickly become my second love in the world of school life. Currently I am working toward adding a special education certification to my resume and was able to serve as a case manager for a dozen special education students during the 2021-2022 school year.

Outside of school life, I spend a lot of time sitting at high school band concerts and competitions or in bleachers at a soccer field, basketball court, or football field enjoying the various sporting events and activities that my eight children are involved in. Yup, you read that right...eight talented and unique kids ranging from elementary through college! When I'm not being one of the kids' greatest fans, I enjoy playing the piano, gobbling up any piece of literature I can get my eyes on, family game nights, just about any pumpkin flavored food or drink, home decorating, and sitting by an ocean anywhere in the world. Other obscure talents I hold are being able to tell you what really is an authentic Philly cheesesteak and organizing just about any space that needs it!
