My family and I have set some roots here in Platte City, and this town is what we were looking for! We love the small-town feel but are still close enough to the city to take advantage of what it has to offer. My husband Shawn and I met in college at Northwest Missouri State (Go Bearcats!) and have been married for 21 years. We have two children. Our daughter graduated last year and will attend Northwest this fall to study marine biology and our son attends Platte County High School.
Personally, I grew up in Florida and have a love affair with anything related to the beach and ocean. Every time we go to visit or see family, I can't wait to get back! I have two sisters in which I'm the oldest. In high school, my family moved to Oklahoma and then later on to Lincoln, Nebraska where I graduated high school. After college, I got my first teaching job in the Park Hill School District. I taught first, second, fourth and fifth grades there in the same building. Having that much movement between grade levels has really broadened my horizon as to meet middle schoolers where they're at academically.
